ART JOURNALING

Art journal page: Still loving you

Art journal: Still loving you

This purple and gold art journal page was created with Dylusions spray inks, white and gold texture pastes and a stencil called "Mini tiny circles" designed by Balzer Designs. I also used an original vintage Dymo writer to write the title "Still loving you" on pink tape from the late 70's - so it's possibly about 40 years old! I adhered it with glue and two staples to make sure it would stick to the piece of wrinkled gold foil under it, which is not the best possible surface to glue things on. To see how I made this mixed media layout, click the link to Youtube time lapse video tutorial at the end of this page.

HOW TO MAKE THIS ART JOURNAL PAGE

I started with the paper heart adding some washi tape and effect paste and then I created the mixed media background. I glued down pieces of patterned paper and some wrinkled gold foil. Then I coated the page lightly with white gesso and added some texture with "Tiny dots" stencil and let the page dry. I colored the page using Dylusions inks, three shades: Bubblegum pink, Pomergranade seed and Vibrant turqoise. I sprayd water and turned the page up and down to get the inks moving and to help them get mixed. The title is made with an old Dymo label maker and I adhered it using glue and a couple of staples. I added some hand writing and other details too, which you can see on the video. Remember to clean your stencil immediately after use with warm water and let everything dry before you go on to the next step!
